So you’re interested in taking the MCAT?

Here’s a quick look of how I simulate test-taking conditions at home:
-try to clean absolutely everything off your desk
-no candles, no iPad, no beverages, no snacks, no books or calendars, nothing
-my aesthetic clock stays off too
-I only have my white board, eraser, and a marker
-I wear earplugs throughout the entire exam; I take off during breaks
-this seems silly but it simulates the exact test taking condition you’ll be in (if you choose to wear them)
-to some, hearing yourself breathing can be weird at first
-before I come back to the test I allow myself to flip out my pockets, wait several seconds, then sit back down to start again
-again, this simulates testing conditions at the facility

Moral of the story, simulate the exact test taking conditions you’ll be in. So that also means no phone on break(s) 👎

The #MCAT is a mountain of a test, that takes all of your brain power for the day. So by simulating everything for many MANY tests before hand, you take all the nuances of test-day out of the picture.

The goal is to make your official test feel like just any other test you’ve ever taken. Don’t allow it to sit on this pedestal & be a barrier to your future.

You’ve got this!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day ☘️ Reviewing my pra Happy St. Patrick’s Day ☘️

Reviewing my practice full-length from Saturday. We’ve improved again! Much more consistent across the board, and steady progress seen. Gosh it feels good. But there’s plenty of room for improvement still.

Sorry I haven’t posted many study sessions recen Sorry I haven’t posted many study sessions recently, I’ve been pretty hyper-focused on tackling this MCAT prep.

I did decide to record a snippet of my review day yesterday, which tackled the reviewing of my most recent MCAT practice test.

I truly felt defeated upon finishing my most recent test, thinking I’ve somehow regressed when I’ve been studying so much, but in fact improved 3-7 points (depending on which “raw score -> scaled score” you use).

I’ll gladly take a 3 point improvement when I failed to finish all my passages in every section but Psych/Soc. I understand why you want practice tests to be hard, compared to the real thing, but my goodness Princeton Review, could you maybe not have 3 10-paragraph CARS passages in one test! 😵‍💫

But we’re improving, and that’s all the motivation I need to keep moving forward!
